Client Problem
This condo developer was having major settlement issues! The landscaping had settled over a foot from when it was installed. This created very large voids under walkways and driveways in the development. The concrete hadn’t settled as it was reinforced to the foundation with rebar. However we know from experience that the rebar alone cannot hold the concrete in place for the long term without support from under the pad. Over time this concrete was going to settle and crack.
Our Solution
Using our polyurethane foam technology we injected material through a series of 5/8" holes in the concrete. The EXPANDING reaction of the polyurethane, quickly filled the void, forming to all the uneven landscape, and supported the concrete better than even new. The polyurethane will not wash away like soil and has similar strength as concrete. We advised the client of some key drainage issues to correct and to bring the grade back up to the top of the concrete so they wouldn’t continue to see soil washout. Getting this problem corrected before the concrete settled or became damaged saved this client many tens of thousands of dollars.
